South Park: The Fractured But Whole further delayed

Oh my God, they delayed Kenny

I think the last we wrote about South Park: The Fractured But Whole [official site] was a delay into 2017, but Ubisoft have announced a further delay into fiscal year 2018 - looking at how Ubi's financial calendar works that would put the current release window as 1 April 2017 - 31 March 2018. Thus, it could still come out in 2017, but it could also be 2018 or it could be delayed again in the manner of Project CARS (this joke courtesy of fiscal year 2015).

Writing on the Ubiblog, Ubisoft sez:

"South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in FY18. The teams at South Park and Ubisoft San Francisco are committed to pushing the envelope during development to deliver the best experience possible, and this additional time will allow them to do so."

I mean, I think I see the problem right here. If you're spending your development time just pushing envelopes around the office instead of coding and writing then of course your project's going to be late.

They said similar in September 2016, although they hadn't started faffing around with stationery at that point:

"South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now launch on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC, calendar Q1 2017. The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal."

I mean, that's what you'd want from a delay, really; that the time is being used to make the game better. I guess the proof will be in the Fiscal Year 2018 Pudding.
