Mass Effect Andromeda Now Officially Due Early 2017

For proper real

Mass Effect Andromeda [official site] was officially due to launch towards the end of this year, though chatter from the moneymen made clear it'd be slipping into next. Now it's proper-super official: BioWare have announced that the sci-fi shooter-RPG will be blasting off to a new frontier in "early 2017." But hey, it sounds like they'll give us a peek at it during E3 next month. Fingers crossed for a hanar crewmate, gang!

BioWare explained in the announcement:

"As we've been playing the game at the studio recently, it's showing us that we're taking the game in the right direction. But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be – that's our commitment from all of us to all of you."

They want to make Andromeda a good video game, and I think they want to marry us?

Mass Effect Andromeda will leave the Milky Way of earlier games behind, blasting off into the Andromeda galaxy as explorers bumbling into a new spacewar. That means new places, new species, new threats, and yeah, probably not (m)any familiar faces. Oh, and a new Mako spacecar! A smidge of supposed test footage showed a jetpack, but I wouldn't take that as law.

BioWare say they'll have "an update" on Andromeda during EA's E3 press conference on June 12th. I'd expect at least some sort of cinematic trailer to go with that? If you're ravenous for spacescraps.
