Redwall-ish Ghost Of A Tale Squeaks Into Early Access

For Redwall!

The Redwall series by Brian Jacques were some of my favorite novels growing up, so I'm absolutely giddy to try out Ghost of a Tale [official site], an action-RPG where you play a minstrel mouse. It launched into a few days back. With light elements of stealth, Ghost of a Tale lets you explore a medieval keep while you complete quests and interact with its anthropomorphic cast of characters—you know what? Just watch the trailer. It's oozing with charm.

Ghost of a Tale originally received around $40,000 through an Indiegogo campaign back in 2013, but now the development team—which consists of just five people—is looking to Early Access to get the money to keep going. As Tilo, the aforementioned minstrel mouse, you explore Dwindling Heights keep in search of Merra, your true love. Cute. While the label of action-RPG might lead you to believe that combat will be common, the opposite seems to be the case. "Tilo is not much of a fighter, so stealth and nimbleness are your allies when confronted with enemies twice your size," reads the description on the Steam page.

Right now, the developers at SeithCG say that Ghost of a Tale is about 90% feature-complete, but the Early Access version has only about 25% of the quests, characters, and locations. Their expected release date for the full version is around six months from now, but of course that's subject to change.

If you're as enamored with this cute little mouse as I am, you can pick up Ghost of a Tale through Steam or GOG, discounted to $18/£13.50 until August 1st.
