Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Announced

Ubisoft made their promised announcement last night. Are we excited to hear the words: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier? Very little is known at this point, beyond that it's the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter team, and seemingly with a multiplayer focus. A few scraps of detail below, and the teaser video.

There's a short letter on the new site that lays out the challenge they see in front of them. Creative director Olivier Dauba explains that it's been a while since they made GRAW 2.

"The landscape has changed since then, thanks to our competitors, who came out with some truly remarkable shooters (which makes our jobs harder, but more exciting at the same time)."

But what are they going to do?!

"Well, it’s time for us to fight back. We didn’t want to come out with another old-style GRAW game — as far as we were concerned there was no point in doing “just” that. That much was clear from the very beginning on this game. Everybody expects quality, and we’ll still deliver on it like we did on the previous games. True innovation, however, is definitely harder to come by these days. Our aim was to come up with something that would change the playing field, and go where others have not yet been. There’s room for improvement left in the shooter genre, folks, and we’re taking you there to the war of tomorrow. That was our challenge on this one: coming up with something that will change the way people play shooters together, something that is both incredibly simple and obvious, but that nobody has thought of before. We will be unfolding details as we go along, so stay tuned."

Me too.

There's to be an multiplayer beta this summer, and apparently access to this can be secured through the purchase of Splinter Cell: Conviction. However, it's not clear at this point whether this relates to the PC version, so wait for news on that.

So, here's the teaser, which reveals that future soldiers are apparently made of cloth:
