Great Jagras weaknesses and resistances
Its main weakness is to fire weapons, though it is also moderately weak to both thunder and ice. Don't try to use water based attacks on it though as it has a huge amount of resistance to that element. Great Jagras is vulnerable to all ailments that you can inflict upon it, so you can definitely experiment with how to use status ailments on other foes by using this monster as a large, scaly, reptilian guinea pig.
Hitting the Great Jagras with conventional weapons in the head, stomach, and front claws should be your priority as these are the breakable parts. You'll do slightly less damage overall if you attack the front claws, so aim for the stomach and head for maximum damage output. There's no real bad option for weapon type and really you can use this monster to test out your weapons out in the wild.
How to fight the Great Jagras
The good thing about this rather easy to fight monster is that it tends to telegraph its attacks well before unleashing them. When it opens its mouth wide, it's about to charge straight forward, so dive to the side to avoid that charge. It has no real ranged attacks to worry about, so those who wish to take it on at a distance should find it relatively safe to do so until it comes charging at you.
At some point during the battle, the Great Jagras will probably flee to a location that either has Aptonoth or Kestodon roaming around. It will then swallow one whole, which will subsequently inflate its stomach. This is a great time to unload every attack you have into its stomach as it's generally a guaranteed stun once you've broken it.
However it does gain an extra attack in this state where it will raise its side legs to prepare to roll. Again, it's just a case of avoiding its attack by moving out of its way. Before too long, you should get to the point where it's weakened enough to flee towards its nest. It will attempt to sleep, while smaller Jagras guard it, but by this point the monster is so weak that it takes just a capture attempt, an ambush with deploying barrels and triggering an explosion, or a few more hits to finish it off completely.
