Warframe's War Within update adds new mission, sealife

Be the best crab

Warframe [official site], the free-to-play co-op third-person shooter-o-stabber where you play as some sort of robotic sealife, has launched another big update. 'The War Within' has added a new cinematic quest, new enemies, new weapons, a new type of mission, new tilesets, and other odds and ends. To get away from technical terms: the update lets you fight big squishy fellas who look like anemones or perhaps sea cucumbers, and you'll get to make your lobstersmen, oysterfolk, and crabgals fancier than ever. Having the coolest crab is what really matters.

Alec wasn't taken with Warframe when he played a few months back but I know it has some serious fans. Who could resist these turgid new boys?

Here's what developers Digital Extremes say about the big new quest, The War Within:

"The Grineer Empire grows stronger as friend become foe. What secrets does the Grineer Empire keep? Underpowered, unprepared and forced out of your comfort, you must find it in you must find it in yourself to overcome new foes to save yourself. The Queens' Fortress awaits, where both Warframe and Operator will be pushed past their limits as they slowly unravel mysteries about the Tenno’s past and their true capabilities."

New enemies are in the Fortress, natch, and it's built with a new tileset for a new look. You'll also find new armour bits, new skins, new PvP maps, and... head on over to the Steam announcements for details.

The update is now live, launched on Friday night. Have a peek in this trailer:
