Assassin's Creed Odyssey Lakonia: how to complete the side quests

Home to the Spartans, Lakonia is a rather hilly place, full of people who require your help. Some will not appear immediately as you'll need to complete a particular side quest to get the local leaders to trust you with further influencing the region, but once you do so there's plenty to do. This guide will go over all the side quests for the region and how to complete them.

Training Days

In Pitana, west of Sparta, a young woman named Xanthe recognises you and asks you to escort her son to the camp master, south-west of your location. Follow him up the hill and talk to Iatrokles, who will invite you to duel him. Beat him to complete the quest.

Brothers in Arms

Iatrokles will ask you to find two missing students. He apparently sent them to set up a camp and be there for a few days. One happens to be the brother of Xanthe’s son. Climb up the hill and investigate the area, looking at the burned patch on the ground, the shield near the tent, and two blood patches and a body up the hill. Follow the blood trail up the hill and enter the cave. Inside will be some bandits. Kill him and free his prisoner. You may need to talk him down from feeling shame for losing his shield. Do so, before returning to Xanthe and she’ll ask you to inspire other people. This opens up a number of quests.

Not my Mother’s Daughter

A woman will be having a disagreement with her mother about being kept at home. Your hero will suggest training, beginning with a foot race. Use the fact that you can probably jump from high places without taking damage to your advantage and win the race. You’ll then be racing horses, though you can make a romantic gesture at this point. After finishing the race, she’ll question why you’re teaching her before suggesting the next bit of training. Go up the hill and make your choice.

A Godless Blight

Lanike is despairing because she thinks the gods are blighting her crops. She’ll ask you to speak to her helots that she suspects are the cause. Both are working the fields close by. One will ask you for some mint from the house, so take some from the table behind it and return to her. She’ll tell you that the contamination is towards the back of the farm so go there and pay attention in particular to the muddy terrain, the stain, and the broken pots. Burn everything in the area.

The second helot will need a new hoe, so head to the grain storage at the top of the hill and pick up one. He lets you know about the water, so investigate the nearby stream, namely the corpse, the net, and the dead goat carcass. It soon becomes clear that there are more bodies in the water, so take them out and plop them on the designated spot. Return to Lanike.

A Treasury of Legends

Damia will recognise you thanks to Xanthe, and wants you to tell a story to her children to inspire them to study. Head into the temple and speak to the group of kids. Pick the option with Zeus, then choose the option with Diktys (fisherman). The evil ruler wanting to marry Danae is the next correct option, before choosing the option with the gorgon’s head and then concluding by saying he competed in the Olympic Games.

Sacred Favors

Zeuxo wants you to carry a basket to her husband. He’s a fair distance away, towards the eastern peninsula, so head up and over the hill and look for the nearby beach. Be sure not to drop the basket and talk to Kalibos. It turns out the basket is full of wine, so feel free to decide whether to participate in their drinking or not. Athenians will invade the camp in the morning, so kill them all to finish the quest.

End of the Day

Once you've finished all four of the above quests, you'll then need to return to Xanthe and talk to her. She won't ask any more favours from you, instead thanking you for your help and present you with a hefty reward for your troubles.

That's all the side quests that we have so far for the region of Lakonia, but there are plenty of other regions that will need your help. Head on back to our Assassin's Creed Odyssey side quests guide for more information about another quest-line or another region's set of side quests.
