Coming At You: Broforce Explodes Out Of Early Access
Bro out, bro!
Broforce [official site] is not a game about shoving matches in the Bas Vegas car park. No, Broforce's bros are kill-o-platforming commandos who may or may not bear some resemblance to action movie stars. Brobocop, Double Bro Seven, Rambro, Ellen Ripbro, Indianna Brones, Bro Dredd, The Brode... no, any similarities to fictional characters owned by large companies with expensive lawyers are probably just coincidences.
After a year and change in Early Access, the boisterous run 'n' gun platformer is ready to bro out and has properly launched. It's celebrating this with an explosive cartoon:
As that trailer doesn't illustrate, Broforce is a run 'n' gun platformer about murdering oodles of generic action movie terrorists. And tanks. And xenomorphs. And satans. You play as loads of action heroes, each with their own weapons and playstyles, rotating between them when you die - and unlocking more as you go. It's big on blood, explosions, and silly things like riding atop a rocketing explosive barrel.
Along with singleplayer, it has co-op and deathmatch multiplayer, plus a level editor to make your own killzones.
Broforce is out now for Windows and Mac, with a Linux version still planned. A launch discount makes it £8.03 on Steam. It's also available through Humble, DRM-free plus with a Steam key, but that hasn't updated to have the launch discount yet. Broforce doesn't have a demo, but you can play its old, old alpha or the old-but-not-as-old movie promo The Expendabros.
