How do you play Sea Of Thieves with no sight? You steer the ship

We tend to talk about games as very visual experiences because, for most, they are. But, for some, there are more important things than framerates and 4K resolutions - namely, actually being able to play games in the first place. I spoke to Sightless Kombat, an accessibility consultant and "gamer without sight", who told me how far games still have to come before they're fully…

Green Man Gaming have the best Black Friday PC game deals yet

Watch out, watch out, there are sales about. Humble, Gamesplanet, Fanatical and Steam have all hopped aboard the autumn deals train, and what a well-priced train it is. Joining us at the next stop now is Green Man Gaming, who've also launched their big Black Friday sale. They have a lot of the same games on offer that we've seen elsewhere, but with some slightly…

Death Stranding is 56% off in Fanatical’s Black Friday sale

As Black Friday edges ever closer, another PC game sale emerges from the fold. Fanatical have kicked off their Black Friday offers with some excellent discounts - including 56% off both Death Stranding and the new ultimate edition of Control. Fanatical's sale boasts 5336 deals in total, which is an awful lot. But fear not, I've had a rummage through and picked out a few…

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s dice minigame comes to the real world next year

Orlog! Orlog! Orlog! I have played a grand total of four hours of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and at least two of them have been playing this daft dice game. Much like The Witcher 3's Gwent, players can stumble upon Orlog challengers throughout Valhalla, and partake in a weirdly engrossing minigame. I have good news for those of us who've got hooked on it - Ubisoft…

Get 70% off Doom Eternal in the Gamesplanet Xmas Deals sale

It's that time of year when loads of big games launch, and suddenly you realise you haven't played half of the other big games that came out just a few months ago. But there's no need to break the bank to catch up, because a bunch of Black Friday sales have landed. Gamesplanet are calling their sale "Xmas Deals" but have rather conveniently scheduled it…

Steam has improved support for the PS5 DualSense controller

The PlayStation 5 landed in the UK last week (and in the US the week before), bringing with it the shiny new DualSense controller. Steam was quick to implement initial support for it, too. Now, over the weekend, Valve have improved that support, meaning your Steam games will be able to use the DualSense's fancy LED, trackpad, rumble and gyro features.

Classic Flash games are now preserved and playable at the Internet Archive

We've known for three years that Adobe planned on killing off Flash at the end of 2020. Now that we're nearing December 31st, stalwart of digital preservation the Internet Archive has stepped up and put together an emulated Flash library, so you can continue to watch and play hundreds of old faves from your browser.

Gabe Newell has blasted Gnome Chompski into space

It is done. Gnome Chompski has shot off to where gnome man has gone before. The little red-hatted fella started life as a bit of a joke in Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Players who carried the garden gnome all the way to the end of the game would be awarded with the achievement "Little Rocket Man" - a title old Chompski truly lived up to…

Shenmue 3 hits Steam today

Today, I invite you to go back in time and visit China to search for a little bit of vengeance. Specifically, back to spring 1987, to help a young Ryu Hazuki hunt for his father's killer. Of course, you could partake in a spot of tortoise-racing or chicken-chasing while you're it. That's right, I'm talking about the weird and wonderful world of Shenmue 3, which…

Get your cyberpunk fix in House Flipper’s new DLC today

Ah, November 19th. The fateful day that CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to grace our screens. It won't be doing that, though, because it's delayed until December 10th. As a consolation prize, however, you could play a little bit of House Flipper. In a move I'm sure is no mere coincidence, it's adding a free cyberpunk DLC today - complete with a new…

Rainbow Six Siege’s big Tachanka rework is now live

Yesterday, Rainbow Six Siege operator Tachanka threw his turret out the window, picked up an LMG and started running around blowing holes in walls and doors, all while yelling with a completely different voice. The Russian defender hasn't gone mad mind you, he's just had a major rework and come out the other side a new man - literally, because as well as new weapons…

More artwork from the next Mass Effect has surfaced

Hello and welcome to the corner of the RPS Treehouse where we sit and chant, "Mass Effect! Mass Effect! Mass Effect!" to will news about BioWare's sci-fi series into being. This week, our dark magic has summoned three (3!) new images of some lovely artwork for the next Mass Effect game, which the developers revealed they were working on during their N7 Day celebrations. Oooh…

Disintegration turns off its online multiplayer today, five months after launch

It's just five months after the launch Disintegration and already its developers are saying goodbye to its online multiplayer. The hoverbike FPS meets RTS hybrid failed to find an audience that would make it worth keeping the multiplayer alive, its developers say. The singleplayer mode remains playable.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla pays tribute to The Prodigy’s Keith Flint

Players running around in Assassin's Creed Valhalla over the last week or so have already uncovered a few Easter eggs here and there: nods to other games like Dark Souls, for example, and even a quest rife with Tolkien references. But our very own guides editor Jake has found one that's much more heartwarming - a tribute to The Prodigy frontman, Keith Flint, who sadly…

Overwatch’s latest short story finally gives Symmetra and Zenyatta more lore

Overwatch doesn't really have an in-game narrative. Instead, Blizzard have been telling stories about the hero shooter's characters over the years via animations, comics and short stories. If you've followed much of this stuff, you'll know that heroes Symmetra and Zenyatta have been pretty lacking on the lore front. But no longer! Because a new short story has arrived telling us a bit more about…

Unsurprisingly, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla isn’t that historically accurate

This will likely come as a surprise to no one, but Ubisoft's latest sneaky murder adventure, Asassin's Creed Valhalla, doesn't seem to be very historically accurate. It's nothing huge or revelatory - I'm sure we all know Vikings didn't truly have magical ravens they could see through the eyes of, after all. But if you're interested in the history of England and Norway, I'd go…
