Assassin's Creed Odyssey Obsidian Islands: how to complete the side quests

Home to what can be best considered a rather primitive take on a Battle Royale, the Obsidian Islands is also a place where you can find a training partner to sharpen your skills in order to survive the challenges ahead. To get you prepared for the combat challenges, as well as a footrace to determine if you're of strong stuff, this guide will go over the main side quests for the Obsidian Islands and how to complete them.

Sparring with Roxana

Roxana needs a sparring partner. You’ll begin with a normal fight with weapons. She's not particularly difficult to fight against, provided you have the right skills, which you can find the best ones in our Assassin's Creed Odyssey skills guide. Defeat her and she’ll move to an archery challenge.

Archery Practice

This begins immediately, so kill the wolves with your bow. They will of course come near you, but certain skills with the bow like the multi shot are decent for the large groups of wolves that will more than likely focus on you than Roxana. She’ll then take you to her house, which is the start point to a foot race.

Foot Race

Run to Lovers Leap which is on top of the mountain in the distance near the viewpoint. Roxana isn't very fast, so just run up the path. When you win the race, you’ll both share a moment in the beautiful scenery. If you've been flirting with her the entire time, you'll be able to seduce Roxana, though there is a sorrowful goodbye at the end of this mission.

Call to Arms

Over on the island nearby, a man named Drakios will be asking people to sign up to the Battle of the One Hundred Hands. It's a multi-man tournament where everyone will be killing each other, but he requires you to have a sponsor to participate. Simply train with Roxana on the other Obsidian Island to complete this quest. You'll later find that the cult is all over this tournament, which is a bad sign. Follow him or meet him inside the city gates to begin the bout.

The Great Contender

This is one massive fight. Some will clearly work together, but try to survive everything until the horn sounds for the final time. You definitely need to have decent combat experience, particularly with hand-to-hand combat techniques to survive. There is more of that in our Assassin's Creed Odyssey combat guide. Predictably, Roxana will be the other finalist. You can choose to fight her or decline. Declining will provoke Drakios and two Cult guards into a fight. Kill them to get Roxana in your crew.
