Best RPK loadout in Modern Warfare 2

Our MW2 RPK loadout aims to improve its... well, aim! We increase both accuracy and recoil control to make landing shots from a distance much easier, while also boosting damage range and bullet velocity to make it more effective at long range.

Here's the best RPK loadout in Modern Warfare 2:

  • Barrel: TAC 597 Barrel
  • Muzzle: Polarfire-S
  • Rear Grip: Demo-X2 Grip
  • Stock: Heavy Support Stock
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Pro

Since we want to add accuracy and recoil control, equip the Heavy Support Stock and the Demo-X2 Grip. Since they give a large increase to both stats, we can then use the TAC 597 Barrel and Polarfire-S to improve the damage range of the RPK. Combining these four attachments makes the RPK far more effective at a distance, turning it into an excellent medium-long range weapon.

The default iron sights are rather small, so it's pretty hard to pick out targets from far away. With that in mind, we've opted for the Cronen Mini Pro so that we can make it easier to aim at enemies with pinpoint precision. We really would recommend using an optic, but feel free to swap the Cronen Mini Pro out for whichever sight you prefer most.

Best secondary weapon

A weapon suited to short-range combat is the ideal secondary for this loadout, so check out our list of the best SMGs in Modern Warfare 2 for a range of fast and ferocious weapons. Our MP5 loadout and FSS Hurricane loadout are snappy and powerful, and currently ranking very high on our list of the best guns in Modern Warfare 2.

Best perks and equipment

To use an SMG as your secondary, make sure to equip the Overkill perk. It's one of the best perks in Modern Warfare 2, allowing you to wield two primaries in the same class setup. Double Time is another excellent pick, as it extends the time for which you can tactical sprint. For your bonus perk, use Fast Hands to quickly swap between your RPK and SMG while you dart around the map. Finally, use Ghost as your ultimate to remain hidden from those pesky UAVs and Portable Radars, making it harder for enemies to spot you on the minimap.

MW2 multiplayer is fast and frenetic, and nothing adds to the chaos more than a well-placed Thermite grenade. Toss one into the objective or towards a group of enemies to send them running. If you get hit, take a Stim Shot to quickly recover and get back in the fight.

That's it for our Modern Warfare 2 RPK loadout, but there's plenty more to see. Our Raal MG loadout and 556 Icarus loadout are excellent LMG picks if you want to try more from this class, while our list of the best assault rifles might be better at short-medium range. Whichever weapon and playstyle you prefer, start practicing now to prepare for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 hardcore mode.
