High damage and surprisingly low recoil make the MP40 the best SMG for any Vanguard player. However, with the right attachments, we can boost the fire rate and handling speeds to improve your time-to-kill and help you dominate in Vanguard multiplayer. • Barrel: Krausnick 221mm O1B
  • Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal

  • Ammo Type: Hollow Point
  • Proficiency: Momentum
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

This MP40 loadout performs best in short-range situations, as it allows you to quickly move around the map and kill enemies before they can react. With that in mind, we recommend focusing on your handling speed and fire rate to increase your reaction speed and time-to-kill. The Recoil Booster makes the MP40 fire slightly faster, while the Mark VI Skeletal, Krausnick 221mm O1B, Fabric Grip and Krausnick 33m Folding improve your sprint-to-fire and ADS speed. The Momentum proficiency makes you even faster by increasing your move speed whenever you defeat an enemy, helping you gain speed as your kill streak grows.

With the above attachments, the MP40 will annihilate your enemies with remarkable speed. Since the fire rate is higher, you might find that you burn through ammo faster than usual. To counter this, equip the 9mm 64 Round Drums to double your ammo capacity in each clip. Fully Loaded gives you max ammo for the MP40, so you'll always have plenty of bullets spare if you do need to reload in the middle of a fight. Fortunately, you should rip through most enemies with ease if you use Hollow Point ammo, which significantly increases limb damage.

Optics have little impact on your performance in Vanguard multiplayer, so feel free to use whichever you personally prefer. However, if you aren't sure which scope pairs best with this MP40 loadout, we recommend taking the Slate Reflector. This is an excellent short-range sight that makes the MP40 optimal at close-range.

Secondary Weapon

As mentioned above, this MP40 loadout is brilliant at short-range. However, it has a low damage range that makes it largely ineffective at long distances. Luckily, there are plenty of medium-long range weapons that you can use when the fight is a little further away.

If you're on a map that has wide sections in the open, like Numa Numa and Oasis, we suggest equipping a Sniper Rifle, such as the Kar98k or 3-Line Rifle. If you want something a bit snappier, you could try a Marksman Rifle, although these do offer slightly lower damage. However, if you're on a map that isn't ideal for sniping, try using an Assault Rifle, such as the STG44 or Automaton. These are brilliant medium-range guns that will help you rack up kills when your enemies aren't nearby. You could also try the BAR if you want a medium-long range blend.

Best MP40 Perks and Equipment

Here are the best perks and equipment to use with your MP40 loadout:

  • Perk 1: Ghost
  • Perk 2: Radar
  • Perk 3: Overkill
  • Lethal: Thermite
  • Tactical: Stim

Ghost is a classic Call Of Duty perk, so it’s no surprise that it is one of the best perks in Call Of Duty: Vanguard. Since this loadout focuses on being highly mobile and roaming the map, using Ghost is essential if you want to remain hidden from enemy intel and Spy Planes.

Of course, you want to remain hidden from enemy minimaps, but you also want to keep track of enemies as much as possible. With the Radar perk, enemies will appear on your minimap when they fire an unsilenced weapon, making it easy to locate and hunt down enemies.

Overkill is an essential perk in this loadout, as it allows you to equip one of the secondaries mentioned above, such as the Kar98k. While there are other perks that you could take if you opt to use a standard secondary, such as Demolition and Scavenger, Overkill ensures that you remain competitive in long-range encounters.

For your equipment, Thermite is helpful when trying to put pressure on enemies, as it will explode in a fiery burst that deals damage over time. Meanwhile, the Stim will help you avoid getting into such situations yourself by providing a quick burst of healing, and refreshes Tactical Sprint so that you can quickly escape dangerous scenarios.
